Marbled edges with matching endpapers. Frontispieces and illustrations, including many full-page portraits and a large fold-out illustration titled "Chicago After the Conflagration." Rear hinge of volume one is coming loose. Hinges to all three volumes show chipping and wear. Text blocks in good condition. 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 inches. Volume 1: 1670-1857, 648 pages.
