This book is a 4th printing of the first edition with a frontidpiece portrait of General Custer, with a tissue guard opposite the title page; and an outline map, following the Table of Contents, showing Dakota, portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Minnesota with major rivers, forts, cities, and the Northern Pacific Railroad mainline. The publication date is on the copyright page and not on the title page. Title page also says "with portrait and map." Bound in publisher's original navy blue cloth with spine and cover stamped in gilt. Former owner's name and date on front free endpaper. Head and heel of spine moderately bumped. Minor wear at extremities. Binding is begining to separate at hinges and a few places in the text block, but is still tight. Pages are clean and the text is tight. Very good. Item #9028629
