Denkmäler Ägyptischer Sculptur; herausgegeben und mit erlauternden texten versehen
Munchen: F. Bruckmann, 1914. This is a collection of 125 heliogravure prints of Egyptian sculpture. This presentation was designed for exhibition and is different from the book form in that the images were printed on heavy stock measuring 32 x 40 cm or 12 1/2 x 15 3/4 inches with a tipped on cover sheet to protect the images. The printed description for the individual images is affixed to the cover sheet. The entire collection is contained in two custom made cloth clamshell boxes with brown leather spine labels stamped in gilt. The width of the collection is approximately 13 cm or 5 inches. There are no signs that this collection has ever been bound, nor does binding appear possible with the weight of the sheets. This is a real opportunity for an institution to acquire a showpiece of antiquity that can actually be shown to their patrons with relative ease. The images are spectacular. The two title pages are trimmed and bear the perforation of a non-circulating private library in the lower right hand corner. Item #9028621
